HOW TO DIY

PREPARATION

The DIY kit contains two impression trays. Take the appropriate tray for your individual grill, depending on whether you ordered it for the upper or lower jaw. The tray for the upper jaw has the closed palate piece - see picture.

To test, place the empty tray on your teeth - this will give you a feel for it, as you should be able to handle it quickly when taking the impression. So it's best to read the instructions in full before you get started.

STEP 1

Take a portion of white and a portion of blue silicone paste out of the packaging and knead the two parts evenly.

Important: After 45 seconds, the mixture must have a uniform blue color. There should be no white color left.

Then roll the silicone into an approx. 8 cm long, evenly thick sausage. Place the shaped mass in the corresponding spoon. You should work quickly, otherwise the silicone will harden too soon.

STEP 2

Hold the filled spoon by the handle, open your mouth and push the spoon in so far that your incisors are centered over the silicone mass and the handle is centered under the tip of your nose. Feel free to look in the mirror. When the spoon is in the right position, place it evenly on your teeth.

Now press the spoon evenly with your fingers: in the upper jaw with your thumbs and in the lower jaw with your index fingers. It is important that you press the mixture in really deeply, right down to the gums. And then you should keep as still as possible and apply no more pressure, as small movements can distort the impression and make it inaccurate.

Please note! Inserting the tray will move your lip out of its normal position. Use a finger to bring your lip back into the correct position and place it over the impression so as not to distort it.

STEP 3

The silicone must now harden for six minutes. It is best to breathe through your nose for this time. You can test for yourself whether the silicone has hardened by tapping with your fingertip on the silicone that has swollen out and no longer gives way.

STEP 4

The silicone is now completely hardened. You can remove the spoon from your mouth with a gentle rocking motion.

STEP 5

Check your impression carefully. The plastic of the tray must not be visible at any point inside the tray where your dental jewelry is to sit. If this is the case, you have unfortunately bitten too close to the edge and will have to take another impression.

Next, check whether the teeth were deep enough in the silicone. This is how you can tell: where the front of your teeth have touched the silicone, there should be a small hollow above the impression of each tooth. This so-called garland is always created where the tooth necks merge into the gums. We want to model your grills so that they are flush with the gums, and to achieve this, the garland must be present over the entire impression. (see picture)

If you see any holes or irregularities, please send us a picture or try again. Your next attempt will certainly be better.

Finished? Then you can put the spoon with the imprint back in the plastic tray and send it to us by post. We will take care of the rest. If your impression is not sufficient for a perfectly fitting dental jewelry, we will contact you.
